blurb
A short promotional summary of a book.
Because of its nature as promotional text, the blurb uses positive language and tends to focus on the benefits and attractions of the book, rather than merely summarizing the premise or plot.
The blurb can be text written by the author or publisher, or it may be an endorsement given by a celebrity or expert.
In e-publishing, the blurb typically appears as part of the book description text.
In print publishing, the blurb would appear on the dust jacket of the book.
