micropatronage
A funding model where a large number of patrons collectively fund an artist.
Micropatronage is simply the concept of patronage divided among a large number of people, each giving a smaller amount of funds.
Micropatronage depends on the idea that, via the internet, an artist can find a sufficient number of patrons and form relationships with them, whereas in the past geography and the costs of travel would make this impossible.
