copy editing
The process of reading a text and making corrections to improve the quality of writing, assist with adherence to a style guide, and ensure consistency.
In e-publishing, the copy editor reads and annotates the manuscript file provided by the author.
The copy editor will make corrections and suggestions that address spelling, punctuation, grammar, phrasing, terminology, jargon, and semantics.
Copy editing usually occurs at the end of the writing process.
